Workshops

At Transformis, our workshops are designed to address key aspects of Inclusion & Diversity (I&D):

Unconscious Bias

We explore how biases influence interactions, decisions, and policies within organizations, providing strategies to mitigate their impact.

I&D Alignment

This theme focuses on aligning leaders, managers, and employees with the concepts and practices of inclusion, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

Action Intervention

We support teams in creating actionable plans that target and address specific I&D focus areas within their organizations.

Preferred Methodology - Theatre

We are allergic to Powerpoint presentations, hence we minimise its usage

Theatre is a dynamic methodology that engages audiences both intellectually and emotionally, making it an ideal platform for exploring and understanding unconscious bias. By using live performances to depict real-life scenarios, theatre brings abstract concepts to life, allowing participants to witness and experience the impact of biases firsthand. For example, in one of our workshops, an actor portraying a manager demonstrates discriminatory language and behavior during an interview scenario. The audience observes the female candidates reactions, which stimulates an immediate and emotional response. This experiential learning approach is far more impactful than traditional classroom setups, where attention spans may be limited.

Benefits of Theatre-Based Methodology

De-mystifying Constructs

Concepts like Inclusion or Gender can seem abstract or distant. However, when these are demonstrated through observable behavior, it becomes clear what is acceptable and what isn’t.

Higher Recall

Studies show that when people are emotionally affected, they tend to remember actions and responses for a longer period. Scripts, dialogues, and performances have the power to emotionally influence the audience, leading to higher retention of the
material.

Creates Openness

Theatre bypasses traditional learning tools like PowerPoint presentations, tests, and notepads. The novelty of theatre primes audiences to expect something new, different, and fun fun, which enhances engagement and openness to learning.

Impact of Theatre-Based Workshops

Feedback from post-session evaluations, informal discussions, client feedback, and online community
platforms has highlighted several key impacts of our theatre-based interventions:

Increased Awareness of Discriminatory Language and Behavior:

Participants have become more reflective about the language they use, jokes they share, and casual remarks they make, leading to a reduction in biased behavior.

Increased Awareness and Curiosity About LGBTQ Issues:

The workshops have sparked curiosity about gender as a spectrum, creating a demand for more education on LGBTQ topics.

Increased Awareness of POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment):

Participants have gained a clearer understanding of appropriate behavior and reporting mechanisms, leading to better adherence to POSH guidelines.

Reflection and Dialogue on Current Policies and Structures:

The workshops have facilitated constructive discussions about existing policies and structures, driving efforts to align them with D&I strategies.

Communication & Toolkits

We create sensitization campaigns tailored to specific organizational needs, focusing on diverse groups, policy communication, and fostering inclusive managerial behaviors. Our campaigns include targeted posters, mailers, and videos that address messages at various levels within the organization.
